Welcome Aboard The Official Airline Of Fashion Industry

According to The New York Times, earlier this year, Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, announced a global fashion week sponsorship. So, what does being fashion week’s official airline mean? Well–lots. After all, the fashion sector spends a lot of time flying— just flying the basic fashion circuit during the ready-to-wear women’s collections means country-jumping four times twice a year.

As Patrick Pierce, Etihad’s vice president of sponsorship explained to The New York Times, “Etihad is going all in and has signed a multiyear contract with WME/IMG.” Specifically, he said that, “it was among their biggest financial commitments.”

So, what can we expect to be offered by the airline? Etihad Airways is planning a special “fashion flight” during peak travel days between fashion weeks, i.e. flights to Milan, London and New York will include this special “fashion flight”. Perks are rumored to include amenity bags from designers, live-streaming of runway shows on IMG’s fashion channel, and maybe even fun flight attendant outfits. Now, that’s chic.
