According to a recent Inc. article, the secret to staying young is creativity.
“Continuing to be creative is exactly what’s keeping me going as I get older,” says author Stephen Kay. All too often, we get caught in the day-to-day hustle of life, and we forget to try new things and be creative. But, don’t fret: There are ways to get creative and reconnect with yourself. Kay uses Isaac Waksul, a 68-year-old passionate entrepreneur, as an example of how creativity can keep you young. “Remembering to ask why and why not. These are questions little children ask. As we grow older, we forget about them. Why is something done this way? Why not? Why isn’t it done that way? When you ask yourself these questions, you just feel younger again,” Waksul said.
Creativity is something we all seek, and we each have innate ways of expressing our creative sides. This applies even if you don’t think you have an ounce of creativity⏤yes, really. So, whatever your approach to boosting your personal creativity, do more of it. Being creative doesn’t happen overnight. It requires time⏤and of course, there’s that other dreaded word: commitment. But don’t stress: This doesn’t have to be a total life turnaround in a day. A couple little hacks, recommended by Creativity Guru and CEO of Brit+Co, Brit Morin include doodling at your desk, listening to music, and taking a power nap. Easy enough? We thought so.
