FASHION AS ACTIVISM

Of all the trends out there this season our favorite would have to be fashion as activism. From the biggest stars to the world’s top designers, the fashion heard were using dress to talk about the issues that are important to them. Muslim designer Anniesa Hasibuan made history last season by showing the first ever NYFW collection with hijabs. For this collection, she responded to the anti-immigrant policies by casting her show entirely with immigrants and second-generation children of immigrants, according to ELLE. “Difference is not something to be afraid of—it’s something you should embrace,” the designer told ELLE.com through a translator after her show. “We have this vision and mission of bringing peace, and fashion is one of the means we can use to spread these beautiful values to the world.” With that in mind, here are a few political statement tops we’re loving right now.($50)
